NO audio format no text to voice option making the text a must read at home and useless for the long commutes useless for studying with this book. I cant even put this book on read when writing responses. I paid a lot for a 22 hour a day paper weight. Thanks for the two hours less sleep a day Pearson.

I found the book easy to read and understand. The court cases were interesting and relevant to my course of study. It adequately prepared me for the Florida Educator Leadership Exam, which I passed on the first try. The condition of the book was good in that it did not have any marks on the inside; however, the cover is getting worn and was torn in a couple of places. Overall, I would rent from Amazon again in the future.

Lots of great content in this law book. The cases are very useful. I probably should have rented it as it was pretty expensive but thought this may be a book that will be useful to have in the future.

The only bad thing is that there is no Kindle version for paperlite. Im able to read it ONLY on my computer through the Kindle app. I couldn;t read it wherever I am with my Kindle.

As the main text, my students get the overall picture of issues facing school administrators and teachers. This gives them a better understanding of the pit falls and how important it is to know and understand the law.

Used this book for a September, 2017, 2-week bicycle trip down Skyline Drive and the BRP, staying in lodgings (not camping) and carrying our overnight gear (~20 lbs each with food, water, layers). It's an excellent guide, although starting to get dated now; if you have time to plan you can double-check specifics online. Some lodging/food/water options have closed, sometimes new ones have opened. In some areas (but def not all) there are lodgings you can find via other means (eg Airbnb, tripadvisor). This book led us to many fine places to stay and accurately described the route so we could pull together the Rubrik's cube of factors each night to plan the next few days (weather, distance, elevation gain/loss, food stops, water stops, lodging options, bike shops). It was invaluable bec we had less than a week to plan after a different cycling trip was cancelled, probably couldn't have/wouldn't have done the ride without it. We were in shape physically, having trained for mountains, and needed every bit of it, just as she warned. This is not a trip for the dilettante rider, and as she notes, there is a huge feeling of accomplishment at the end. Highly recommended.

I have owned every single edition of Elizabeth and Charlie's book since August of 1989, when I bought my first copy at one of the National Park Service stores on the parkway while on a motorcycle trip of the entire Blue Ridge Parkway. If you ride or bike the BRP or Skyline Drive then this is the "Bible". I've taken a group of cyclists down for a 100-110 mile weekend bike ride almost every year since 1994 and "Bicycling The Blue Ridge" has always been my first and most important planning tool. Every six years (one weekend per year), we bike from Front Royal to Cherokee or from Cherokee back to Front Royal. The time and gas this book has saved me in locating restaurants and lodging over the past 26 years would have easily paid for an entire case of books. The best time to buy this book was yesterday, the second best time is today, and the third best time is tomorrow!

I used this book to plan a seven day/300 mile self supported bicycle tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was very helpful. Since you cannot see restaurants, grocery stores or convenience stores from the parkway, this book lets you know where all of the good businesses are located.

Lots of good information here but I would have appreciated GPS data for significant points like tunnels, overlooks, campgrounds and roads.

I believe this is the best book I could have read to prepare for my upcoming ride. EXCELLENT!

The beginning of the new revolutionary year was reset to the newly named month of vendange which supplanted September. Terrible, unless you love French history about obscure things that are only interesting to a few people. Really disappointed. Wash hoping to read about Paris in THIS century not the seventeen hundreds. The revolution, Marie Antoinette...what does that actually have to do with the Seasons in Paris? Right, absolutely noting. But if you want to know where the wood for a swimming pool came from, he will tell you. AWFUL book, didn't finish it. Blah. Don't believe the title. That's pretty much the only thing that made any sense, as far as the title goes.

I became hooked on John Baxter’s Paris travel books after my wife bought me The Most Beautiful Walk in the World for Christmas. I found it full of practical tips about things to see, but even more important, it helped show me how to savor Paris and get the most out of one’s time in the city, whether one is walking purposively or just meandering through its streets. So I started buying his other books, for their perspective as well as practical information.I never thought I would say this, but I enjoyed A Year in Paris even more than The Most Beautiful Walk. Reading it with a glass of wine at hand, I found myself chuckling time and again over his anecdotes, and occasionally laughing aloud at some outrageous story that he imparted. Perhaps my favorite was the recounting of his conversational exchange of haiku poems with a gentleman he met in the Petit Palace. It was a completely unexpected, yet oddly Parisian experience, and reminded me of the pleasure of turning a corner while walking down a Paris street and finding the unexpected.A Year in Paris imparts some of the zest and spirit of adventure that Baxter brings to his day-to-day living in the city, so that we readers can enjoy his Paris vicariously. I found myself underlining passages and locations that I wanted to see on my next trip or did see on a previous trip. His insatiable curiosity about the city is infectious, and helps stoke my own curiosity about what makes Paris that which it is today. For me, the perspective provided by his historical references enhances my understanding of one’s engagement with Paris. I welcome the obvious seriousness of his research, which enables him to place the city within a continuum that is partly historical, partly driven by the seasons as he so rightly points out, and well-grounded in authentic French culture (and cuisine, if you pay careful attention to the meals he discusses). Having a French wife born in Paris gives Baxter insights into the city that he shares with his readers. She seems to be an often unseen presence in his writings, who appears just in time to save him from the occasional faux pas. Thus he experiences Paris both as an insider and an outsider, as he reminds us with a few well-timed stories about his native Australia that enliven the narrative.When I reached the Postscript chapter of A Year in Paris, I found that, lo and behold, Baxter had held in reserve a surprise ending that I did not see coming but which retrospectively gave additional meaning to the previous pages. No need for a Spoiler Alert here, as I am not going to give it away, but it added to the coherence of Baxter’s narrative and conveyed perhaps a certain impish sense of humor.

Gini Grahm Scott does an excellent job covering the subject of distributing an Indie Film. A lot of this material has been covered before, in the many books I have read on the subject. Where Gini Grahm Scott differs from the other authors is that she doesn't lecture and pontificate. She gives the information needed and also references other authors, or businesses to find additional information. What a novel idea. I am so used to reading a book on this subject, and then trying to figure out where to get started. The author provides information about distribution, but also gives a road map, so you can begin to actually get started. After reading other books on the subject it seemed that I had more questions, than answers. Best five bucks I've spent.

In my mind, this is one of the most unique books that I have read thus far. But it is a difficult one, intentionally. Gurdjieff (as many know) taught that man very rarely if ever really pays attention to what they do in life, passing through life more as machines, without stopping to really observe the self, or anything else for that matter. This book was written intentionally by Gurdjieff to greatly slow the reader down and cause them to really have to focus on what they are reading. I think this is good, though I am glad that not many books are written like this. Though I feel it is good, because it does cause you to really pay attention, and being that the book is very confusing and takes some real insight and re-reading of passages at times to attempt to follow what is being said, it has the effect of causing you to slowly observe your own feelings and re-actions as you read it. Which if you labor through the whole book, this process of personal awareness becomes more and more apparent as you go. Would I recommend this book to everyone, hecks no, if you are diving into it just to have an interesting read, or perhaps know little to nothing about Gurdjieffs Tradition of teaching, this is NOT the place to start, as it will undoubtedly turn you off of his methods. Like any great thinker, from Plato, to Crowley, trying to dive right into the meat of things, albeit possible, but not advised.My suggestion if you just want to know a little more about what Gurdjieff taught, then begin with what most do,"In Search of the Miraculous" by P.D.Ouspensky, a great copy which can be found here on Amazon. If you still after reading that book, find that you are intrigued, than I would recommend, perhaps, attempting this book.No matter your level of understanding of Gurdjieffs teachings, I would approach this book like a marathon, don't read anything else while reading this, read maybe 30 to 50 pages in a sitting, and allow some time right after, and before sitting down to read again, to really let your mind play over what you have read. Guaranteed there will be times where you want to throw this book out the window in complete frustration, and there will also be times where you will really find yourself in appreciation and understanding of it.Now I can't go and say that the clouds parted, and I became some spiritual master after reading this, for one, I like Gurdjieffs methods, but I'm not a died in the wool student of his either. Nor do I think his intention (personally) with this book was not to be some bible or Brahmanical text which suddenly opens the aspirant to spiritual sanctuary and understanding. I do feel it was intended to be a tool in the practice of Gurdjieffs teachings, which threw reading threw it over and over again, one becomes sounder in its teachings, and grows a greater understanding of personal awareness. An obtuse book, but if you feel up to the task, it is well worth the effort. Be warned though as one reviewer here remarked, after awhile you will find yourself talking and writing at times as obtuse as the book as written. lol.

As other reviewers pointed out, this is the revised edition. Unwanted, unauthorized, unapproved by Gurdjieff ... Self-appointed "heirs" have altered the original text, which was carefully and meticulously (to put it mildly) constructed by Gurdjieff and approved for publication. We only have their word to go on that they were "appointed" for this "sacred" task of revising Gurdjieff's work.Compare the unrevised version ... if you can find it ... to this one. Then judge for yourself the results of the revisions.See John Henderson's book, Hidden Meanings and Picture Form Language, for a real exposition of this travesty.

Despite the fact that many readers have difficulty with this book, it is well worth devoting a good deal of time to it. It could be said, in fact, that the more you put into it, the more it delivers to you. In my view, the major stumbling block is the opinion, that many readers seem to arrive at, that Gurdjieff is playing some sophisticated kind of joke on the reader. This, in fact, is not the case at all. But to appreciate its content, one must first realize that, aside from having a literal meaning - which can at times seem non-sensical - the book has a completely different allegorical meaning which not only makes sense but can deliver profound revelations to the reader.Gurdjieff said: “I have buried in this book certain bones, so that certain dogs with great curiosity and strong scent may dig down to them and, strange thing, when they have done so, are men”

This novel is quite long but I found it fascinating and stock full of some valuable insight into the plight of we human beings. George Gurdjieff, an Armenian mystic/philosopher that lived from mid 19th century to mid 20th, had some powerful ideas about our history and challenges. I don't want to be a spoiler but suffice it to say that he saw a future humanity with a whole mind; a transformed humanity with a focused exploration and quest for understanding about our subconscious mind. Gurdjieff tells this wonderful story about a non-human grandfather instructing his grandson, who has a fascination with and is a student of "Human Beings", about the true nature of this peculiar and amazing species (humans); how they were psychologically blinded for eons. And, in the process, Gurdjieff unfolds a clear and unique assessment of mankind. There's a lot of repetition of some key and profound concepts, but I believe the repetition was intentional for Gurdjieff knew that modern man has a psychological block that only repetition had a chance to break through. I'm sure I only grasped some of what Gurdjieff was laying out, but what I got was so valuable!

The title given above was the subtitle to the original main title, "All and Everything." The present electronic version is a faithful rendering of the second (officially revised and preferred) edition of this monumental work, as far as I can tell from spot reading. It has a few flubs, such as chapter heads run into the main text. But the content seems to be there. As to that content, it is an incomparable omnibus treatment of the universe and all history by a genuinely great spiritual master of the twentieth century. It moves from cosmic perspective to the very, very earthy. It is brilliant beyond usual standards as well as full of good laughs. As the author explains, the narrative style and the very sentence structure, like the subject matter, are intentionally made to thwart automatic (habitual) reading. The result is that everything in the book is capable of taking you for a marvelous ride beyond conceptuality. You will either be frustrated and disgusted or fascinated and aroused. If the latter, be prepared to spend many a year reading and re-reading.

I was planning a road trip from LA thru Vegas to parts of Utah and Arizona. I have internet devices, but I like something that does not required batteries or a signal. I found this book to be very helpful. Using the internet, you really have no idea whom is writing what you are reading. I could tell the author of this book is a professional. He has a consistent honest style and tells it like it is. Using mostly this book I ended up planning my road trip from Zion to Moab(arches) to Page(antelope canyons) to Grand Canyon to Sedona and back to Vegas/LA. And while driving, I had my wife reading things from the chapters to where we were headed next to verify.My favorite feature of the book(other than the maps or course) is that he gives you recommendations on what to see depending on how much time you have. For example...if you just have a few hours, a whole day, or more. Just the way I think. He also shows the driving times between destinations. Exactly what I needed. Based on the book I did prioritize and skip some things (Bryce canyon for example) that I knew I just did not have the time to see.I used this book more for the parks information and driving, not so much for places to eat or motels. It does have some sections on New Mexico I think, but I did not go there.Excellent guide and book.

This book was invaluable for us on a 10 day road trip from Vegas-Zion-Bryce-Capitol Reef-Arches-Canyonlands-Monument Valley-Grand Canyon. Had lots of details with very good descriptions of attractions so that we could pick and choose what appealed to us. Same thing for hikes -- lots of details and "must see" advice so that we could pick and choose what appealed to us. I liked this book so much, I will look to other Moon books for travel information in the future.

It did not cover much of where we were going. Antelope Canyon area not included. I used Trip Advisor more and really didn’t find much helpful information to even use. There is more thorough and current information on the internet these days. Just be sure to download info before you go because Wi-Fi very spotty in the area.

Great resource for pre-planning a trip to some of the Southwest National parks and a great quick reference guide to take along daily. I used this book to plan a trip just 2 weeks ahead of time and this book really helped me narrow down on what to include in my itinerary.

I'm planning a trip to the south west and this book was just what I was looking for.

Great book! I bought this for my in-laws, and did some reading before I handed it over. Tim Hull's writing is clear and evocative, and I really like his choice of destinations. Highly recommended.
