This is another great installment in what is turning out to be one of my favorite authors from Shadow Alley Press. The story is very solid, a bit more than some of the earlier books and includes a complete story arc from start to finish.The Good: more action, almost all the times. There are quieter moments that help us better understand the characters, but this series has always been focused on action. The action moves well between the US and other locations, and this story is broader in scope than the earlier stories. Steve continues to acquire primacies across the US and Australia, with some needing a fight and others coming easier.I still don't fully resonate with or know the five widows and some of the other wives. The cast of characters has grown enormously over five books, and it is hard to tell sometimes who they are referring to exactly. This is addressed midway through the book, but it is still a problem. It might help to add a character list at the end of the book to help us understand who these people are.The bad: apparently there is a novella called the Five Widows that is mentioned early in this book, and despite my best efforts i couldn't find this book. This leaves a pretty large gap between books 4 and 5, and you start book five with the Wayne sisters already on board and Bart is....??? Somewhere. Not sure what happened there, although i do hope to read this story at some point.Overall I am loving this series, and despite the issues i've highlighted above I still stop everything to read this the new books when they come out. I wanted to finish up California Imperium before i could dive into the 4th Realm.5/5*
I couldn’t put this book down. Aaron Crash has done a great job of exploring the past of the dragons more and still moving forward. A truly great part is that you can segment how Steven and his family’s adventure could go from here easily. Such as Steven gaining control of all primaries of earth then fighting the Zothoric and reclaiming the home world, and then moving on to even more planets. As well it would be a great way of introducing aliens or other fantasy creatures that are also just aliens. Absolutely love this series and wish I had the next fifty books right now!
American Dragons 5 California Imperium is another great release from Aaron Crash and the folks at Shadow Alley Press.American Dragons Five has powerful dragons, morphlings and sorcerers battling to the death in addition to the creative applications of some high-grade military weapons! If you’re like me, you don’t need to know anything more to want to jump right in.Aaron Crash’s American Dragon series never ceases to amaze, each book has gotten exponentially better than the last and when you started out as “Damn Good,†that’s saying something. In an unexpected twist, a new darkness is revealed and medieval madness brings forces of unimagined power against Steven and his escort. You could read this as a standalone, but why would you deprive yourself of four other really good reads?The characters grow in depth and personality as more of each one’s personal history or true identity is revealed. The battles scenes are spectacular and some of the things that happen are dark enough to please any reader that’s fond of mayhem and murder. If the Dragon Slayer wasn’t a female, you’d wonder if Mr. Crash hadn’t borrowed a certain bastard from another epic series. There’s so much action and blood shed one begins to wonder who’s going to survive or end up as truly damaged goods.If you need to feed your dark side and enjoy Fantasy with Dragons and Magic, you’d be a fool to skip this one
The author did a great job in keeping the characters interesting and advancing the plot. The pacing of the book was good.. The action scenes are well written and fun to read. The book did not try to introduce a bunch of new characters and that made it easier to keep track of the story and who was doing what.
There is plenty action and some character development. This is a very good series and I hope the author keeps it in the lite side.
The action is fast paced and brutal and this series just seems to keep getting better and better with each book. Can’t wait for book 5
All of the books in this series are good. The stories flow well in each book. I enjoy the characters the Texas twins are a hoot
Another great book in a already awesome series.Cool whip has come a long way from book one.Cant wait for the next book!
