Cute not sure it's worth the money. My Trekkie husband says it is. It's a short picture book.
This is the perfect small size book for anyone who is a cat lover and a fan of Star Trek. The author/artist has presented a series of vignettes from the original series with cats representing the crew.I especially appreciate the breeds of cats she has chosen for this book. From the ginger-colored American short hair (Kirk) to the Scottish fold (Scottie) to the lovely Russian blue (Chekov), each cat wonderfully matches the looks and personalities of the crew members.The book is a hardback in a smaller size (6.75 x 6.75 inches) and is a fairly slim volume. Each scene is from an episode with quotes on the page. It is surprising how fantastic the concept of cats as crew works. At the end of the book, there is a listing (by book page number) of the episode name, season and episode number.The book is a fun purchase and would make an excellent gift. I could only wish it was longer with even more scenes represented – or maybe there could be a second volume. I would love to see other TV series parodied in this way as well.
Love this book. The cariCATures are so cute and repliCATe many popular scenes from the TOS. I've also purchased her posters with TOS and TNG cariCATures on them. Hope to see some DS9 and Voyager someday too.
This is a delightful book! Two of the things I love most of in life are cats and Star Trek, and this is a marriage made in the Federation! The illustrations are so well done, and every picture is taken from a scene of the original series. If you have a friend that loves both cats and Star Trek it is a MUST have. I already ordered it for two of my friends. Such a fun and unique geeky fur loving experiencing. THANK YOU!
Let me start off by saying, I am not a Star Trek fan. I have nothing against it, the premise just doesn't hold my interest. I found this as I was looking for books to give to my friends twin boys for their first birthday. Her husband, their dad, is a huge Trekkie. I figured this would be fun for the boys and their dad. When the book arrived, I went through it and was very amused. The photos were well done, and there were some scenes that I, even as a non fan recognized. The book was well received (especially by dad), and I'm very pleased with my purchase.
In "Star Trek Cats" Jenny Parks has created a parallel universe melding the original "Star Trek" series and a love of cats in a totally original, whimsical, and subtly unhinged look into both worlds. The original personality traits and physical attributes of the characters come through intact in the feline characterizations: I'm particularly amused by the scene of Spock accompanying a serenading Uhura ("Cats in space, be wary, be wary! We know not what he'll do."), and of course the Spock versus Kirk combat to the death.If you like cats and "Star Trek", this is a must have.
Finally got to spend some quality time with my copy of "Star Trek Cats." It is *amazing*. Not just wonderful art of cats! The pure love for The Original Series in "Star Trek Cats" radiates from the details in each painting, and the selection of the scenes too. I love that the cats aren't over-anthropomorphized. They're real cats, not people with cat heads. I so very hope for follow-ups. TNG or DS9?
Cats and Star Trek. Two great things that go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Great, punny illustrations. I knew when I saw Scotty as a Scottish Fold that I would buy this book. The cats chosen are appropriate to the characters they portray. Every two pages are a tribute to a scene from a TOS episode that you will recognize. My only grumble is that "The Doomsday Machine" wasn't used a basis for one of the cat illustrations. Anyway, if you like cats and Star Trek this book is for you.
